Mindfulness & Meditation

Learn to manage your stress and help your body to heal.

What is Mindfulness?

You are probably familiar with the term 'mindfulness'. In recent years there has been a growth in awareness of the subject.

Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment level of awareness surrounding your thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations and the wider environment.

Practising mindfulness also revolves around acceptance. It means that we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them and without seeking out ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ solutions to the way we interpret things. When mindfulness is practised, our thoughts can tune into what we’re sensing in the present moment, rather than conjuring up memories of the past or looking to the future.

What is Meditation?

Mindfulness practitioner in Chalfont St. Peter

Meditation is a means of transforming the mind. Buddhist meditation practices are techniques that encourage and develop concentration, clarity, emotional positivity, and a calm seeing of the true nature of things.

By engaging with a particular meditation practice you learn the patterns and habits of your mind, and the practice offers a means to cultivate new, more positive ways of being.

It is a technique for resting the mind and attaining a state of consciousness that is totally different from the normal waking state.

For me, the practice of meditation has been invaluable. It has enabled me to control my anxiety which , as you can imagine, has been bad at times when being bed or house bound.
